Ohio’s Hospice Southwest Region President Mary Murphy Honored as Woman to Watch

The Better Business Bureau’s Women in Business Networking (WiBN) of Dayton recently honored the class of 2017 Top 25 Women to Watch. Mary Murphy, RN, MS, AOCN, ACHPN, President of Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton and Ohio’s Hospice Southwest Care Region was among those recognized. These awards recognize exceptional women in the Dayton region who:

-Are exceptional in their roles and respected in their fields
-Are causing more than just a ripple in the public arena and in their communities
-“Light a spark” or make an impression of some sort

Each woman stands out in some special way – because of her leadership, community service and professional achievements – or all three.

Murphy, who also serves as Chief Nursing and Care Officer for Ohio’s Hospice, has a career in nursing that has spanned decades and earned national accolades. Her commitment and dedication were forged at the beginning of her nursing career as a licensed practical nurse. She has never lost her zeal and enthusiasm to serve as a patient advocate. Over the course of her thirty-years of work in hospice, she has served as a bedside nurse, clinical team leader, educator and administrator. She has contributed to multiple clinical publications, presented nationally to clinical audiences, and is the recipient of local, state and national awards and honors including the National Heart of Hospice Award for Excellence in Management from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the 2007 Outstanding Alumna Award from the College of Nursing at Wright State University and the 2004 Palliative Nursing Association Innovations in End of Life Care Award from the National Conference of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medical Professionals.
